Soft Touch Feeling Slow Rebound Crush Cell XPE Open Cell Foam Sheets and Rolls

Crushed cellular XPE foam, or semi-closed cell, was developed to solve the frustrating problem of sealing flexible or uneven substrates. Normal cellular materials will not conform to highly irregular surfaces and different materials can often flex due to stress or temperature, causing a leak. Automobiles would often develop leaks when summer rainstorms would rapidly cool the hot sheet metal body, causing expensive water damage. Manufacturers decided to develop a foam that would conform like an open cell, but still make a watertight seal.

Crushed cellular is exactly that: a closed cellular foam is manufactured, then it is run through a roller to crush or rupture the individual cells. What is left is a cell that is mostly enclosed, but air can go in and out of the small ruptures in the cell walls. This allows the foam to be highly conformable, but still capable of sealing against water.

Working with crushed cellular can be challenging. It isn't a cure-all. Careful testing needs to be performed by the designer to verify that water will not infiltrate their design and therefore the gasket thickness may need to be tweaked several times before a perfect fit is obtained.

Characters of IXPE:
1. Thermal-insulation: independent closed-cell structure can effectively reduce the energy exchange due to air convection, so it is suitable thermal insulation materials for refrigerator, air-conditioning and so on.  
2. Impact resistance: semi-rigid foaming material can be restored after strongly pressing, widely used as the packaging for precise instrument, semiconductor, electronics and so on products.
3. Excellent process ability: IXPE has good heat resistance, tractility, even density, vacuum and hot forming are also available. It is used in automobile air conditioner/roof and so on interior parts.

A: Yes, we do manufacture the foam using our own presses and molds. We have various sizes molds.

Q: Why your price labeled so cheap?

A: We manufacture the foam buns our self, and export directly, no extra fees added.

Q: What is your lead time?

A: Ninety percent of all our orders can be loaded in 15 days.

Q: How much can you fit on a 40 HQ container?

A: Approximately 205 buns of 4" x 48" x 96"

Q: What is your minimum order?

A: We do not have a minimum order. However, small qty will be waste for the shipping costs.

Q:What are acceptable forms of payment?

A: We stock 1.5lb to 15lb densities.

Q: What colors are available?

A: Generally no, although some materials are available with skins upon request.

Q: What can be used to cut your foam?

A: Most tools that can be used to cut wood can also be used to cut our foam. These include table saws, band-saws, table routing, water-jet, etc.

Q: What is the working temperature of the foam?

A:Maximum continuous operating temperature of our foam is between -110°F to 180°F (-79°C to 82°C)

Q: What is the shelf life of the foam?

A: Crosslinked polyethylene foam does not have a shelf life.

Q: Does the foam float?

A: Yes, it does; XLPE is a water resistant foam.

Q: What are the differences between EVA and XLPE?

A: EVA is soft. Our XLPE and EVA foam products are similar materials and are difficult to distinguish. 

The primary differences are that EVA is softer, more resilient, and has stronger recovery after compression. Whereas polyethylene foams are firmer and more resistant to heat. 

Both of them provide excellent protection and shock absorption for packaging applications.
